Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Wisdom teeth, also called third molars, usually do not push through gums until people are in their late teens, twenties, or even older. Most people have four wisdom teeth while some only have less. In many cases there is not enough space is at the rear of the jaws for wisdom teeth to come easily through the gums. This can cause the wisdom teeth to become wedged in or “impacted”. While some impacted teeth remain in place and cause no trouble, others may need to be removed to avoid potential complications.
Your River Street Smiles dentist may recommend removing your wisdom teeth to avoid infection, overcrowding, pain, and the development of an ulcer or cyst. Removal of a wisdom tooth is a very common procedure. It can be performed under local or general anaesthetic.
